Tidebreak Command
★★★★☆ 4.2
Tidebreak Command squeezes a proper RTS onto a phone screen and mostly pulls it off. You command small fleets across a grid of islands, balancing resource routes against defensive patrols. Everything happens in real time but slow enough that you can think.
The clever bit is the lane system: you don't micromanage units, you draw routes and set priorities, then react when an enemy fleet threatens one. It turns strategy into something you can actually read on a small display.
Matches run around fifteen minutes, which is perfect for a commute. The AI ramps up nicely across the campaign, and the skirmish mode gives you a lot to chew on afterward.
What we liked
- Route-drawing instead of fiddly micro
- Fifteen-minute matches suit mobile
- Campaign that teaches you as it goes
