Short adventure games are worth your evening

Short adventure games are worth your evening

April 6, 2026 · Marek Nowak

There's a myth that value means length. But some of the games that stayed with me longest barely lasted an evening. Hollow Lantern is three hours long and I still think about it.

A tight adventure has no room to waste. Every puzzle in Hollow Lantern ties back to the story, every object you pick up means something. There's no filler because there isn't space for it.

Playing on a phone actually suits these games. You can finish one in a couple of sittings without losing the thread, which is hard to do with a sprawling epic on the go.

So don't skip a game just because it's short. Sometimes the brief ones are the ones you remember.
